Speaking during an interaction on media and entrepreneurship, Nyanzi said Kin Kariisa has distinguished himself as one of Africa’s most influential business leaders through innovation, youth empowerment, and institution building.
“Kin Kariisa inspires me because he represents a modern African CEO who understands how to build institutions that create long-term impact,” Nyanzi said. “His influence goes beyond Uganda and shows what is possible when leaders invest in people, innovation, and transformation.”
Kin Kariisa is the Group CEO of Next Media, one of Uganda’s leading multimedia companies. Since taking over leadership of NBS TV in 2008, he has overseen the expansion of the company into a multi-brand media group that includes NBS TV, Sanyuka TV, Salam TV, NBS Sport, Next Radio, Nile Post, and several production platforms.

Under his leadership, Next Media has become one of the country’s most recognizable media organizations, employing hundreds of young people and advancing digital broadcasting and creative industry development.
Nyanzi noted that initiatives such as Next Creata have helped provide opportunities for young creatives and content producers to access mentorship, visibility, and market opportunities within the media industry.
“He invests in talent development, digital transformation, and responsible storytelling,” Nyanzi added. “That is the kind of leadership young Africans admire because it creates real economic and social impact.”
Beyond the media sector, Kariisa also serves as Chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters and has previously served on the board of Ecobank Uganda. He recently joined the board of Standard Chartered Uganda.
Many young entrepreneurs now see Kariisa as part of a growing class of African business leaders using innovation and private sector growth to shape the continent’s future.
