World Pulse and Okta: Building Bridges Between Technology and Civil Society





In a meeting fire side chat that characterized by fruitful dialogue, World Pulse and Okta Organization discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between the tech sector and NGOs to support civil society and empower women leaders worldwide.


World Pulse CEO Lourdes Longington spoke during the session, highlighting the organization’s mission to connect women and allies globally, shedding light on the injustices women face, and presenting World Pulse’s theory of change, which focuses on amplifying women’s voices, fostering meaningful connections, and expanding access to resources to create equal opportunities for women and girls.


Cheeta Kanz from World Pulse also spoke, emphasizing the importance of supporting grassroots women leaders and local initiatives, and highlighting the platform’s impact in empowering women worldwide while facilitating knowledge exchange between volunteers and communities to advance social change.


Mallory from Okta participated as well, discussing the importance of building bridges between technology communities and civil society to exchange knowledge and leverage digital tools for social justice and women’s empowerment.


The meeting also highlighted success stories from the World Pulse Impact Lab, represented by Nadra Al-Mahdi from Cairo and Doli from South Africa. Nadra and Doli shared examples of grassroots leadership that achieved tangible community impact despite limited resources, illustrating how local initiatives and storytelling can inspire others and drive real change.


The session concluded with Nadra sharing insights about her initiative, “Noura” – a movement to combat violence against Sudanese women during war and exile, reflecting on how the initiative embodies the transformative power of women’s digital solidarity and the role of storytelling in raising awareness and uniting efforts toward justice and equality.
