Who molded them?

They say women are weak
They say women do not work and do not want to work
They say women’s place is in the kitchen
They say women’s duty is to bear children
They say women live off men
They say women depend on men

Mama says it’s the duty of the girl to sweep
Mama says it’s the duty of the girl to cook
Mama says boys don’t cry
Papa says be a man, ‘men don’t cry’
Mama says girls must be soft and not challenge their brothers
Papa says after a fight/quarrel, ‘don’t you know he is a boy’
Papa says don’t look for boy’s trouble or else you will be beaten
Mama says be careful about women when you grow up

He lives according to the instructions
He lives believing that the woman’s duty is in the kitchen
He lives wondering why the woman in his life is not seeing it as he sees it
He lives wondering if she was not trained
He lives expecting the woman to be what his mother/father says

Is it really their nature?
Is it in their nature to beat, rape and all they do?
Is it their nature to prove what they are not?

Who really molded them?
Who can un-mold them?
