"VOF Week 2: (For a Change)."

I am a student at Access Academy, Asian University for Women; a platform for empowering women from south Asia. I believe I am fortunate to get a chance to study here; living amid diversity of cultures and thoughts. One Monday morning, our teachers announced about the World pulse and gave us a brief explanation about it. Later, they send us a mail including the world pulse link so that we could visit the site ourselves and know more about the program. As soon as I checked my mail, I visited the site and was exhilarated to know that the World pulse would help women and girls make their voices heard, listened to and as best possible get responded to. After all, women are ignored in our male chauvinistic society. After knowing more about the visions and values of the World pulse, I thought applying for Voices of Our Future would assist me in projecting my voice to the world. I thought that the World pulse was no different than Access Academy. They have different ways while both aim in empowering women. What Access Academy does through education, so does the World pulse through communication. I am glad to be a part of both influential entities.
The journey in the World pulse seems never-ending because people always have something to tell to the world. So far my personal visions are concerned; I believe that through the World pulse I can share my feeling with people all around the world. I am from a country where men are always superior to women in any aspect of life, so sharing my own experiences and observations would help me reach my voice and voices from other women of my society to global audience. In today’s world, where internet has simplified our life in so many ways, I think publishing our ideas and thoughts through blogs and journals are easier way to get suggestions and thoughts from many people and find solutions to any problem. For the people saying posting things online would risk our privacy, I say when the things are more than important to be heard, then one must let the word know what is happening. And I think it is what the World pulse does. It encourages women to speak up, in any ways or mediums, without any barriers and providing help in any ways it can, so the voices could reach the ears of the authorities. Making a change in not an easy feat. An individual might instigate it, but it is only successful with collective efforts. I think the World pulse in a living example for this. It is asking for collective efforts of women and girls from all parts of the world to make a change; to transform our world through our voices. The World pulse is like a corner stone for my future; the time when I need to let the world know about situation of other women back home.
