My Water Journey Introduction

As a Child growing up in the South West Province of Cameroon, at the Fount of Mount Cameroon. I personally did not experience any water crisis. My father worked in the largest Company in Cameroon as a Manager while my mother was a teacher. We had midddle class status and even when we visited the village there was a water flowing from the bathroom and water system toilets.
Hence to me it was easy to get water so I never saw water as a problem.
Infront of My Grand Father's home in the village stood our village tap. My father contributed to having the tap to help people with out water in their homes. Then I could count few people per day coming to fetch water. My Poem entitled the "Land of Diminishing Waters" tells the story.
My first experience with water crisis was when I went to high school in Bamneda North West Province of Cameroon. North West is part of the Savannah Region of Cameroon which is a dry area. During the dry season there is always water crisis. Many people mostly women and children would go in search of water from neighbouring streams some times working for kilometres in search of water. My school was a boarding school and during the dry season we somtimes had to go to the near by stream to wash our clothes or carry water to bath. Since I had never experience this at home to me this was really fun and I love doing that when ever I had the chance, that is if the school taps were not running.
I experience this situation for two years from 1983-1985 during my high school years.

In the next entry I shall be taking about my university years from 1987-1991 and the water situation in Calabar, Cross River State Nigeria where I studied within that period.

I shall be happy to get some questions from the community.
