Ignite Portland Documentary Short

This may be early for some, but it is 21 September 2013 in my part of the world already and I offer this for the everyday peace of a few moments solace.

A Simple Respite

Father, may I sit
and take my rest
here,
at Your House of Splendour?

I pray,
You allow me
this pause,
to catch my breath
and let my day
drain out of me

I have returned
from my labour
and come bearing
the work of my day

I humbly present
my earnings
and seek only
a sign
of Your approval

Your gentle frown
tells me I have it

Blest,
another side of me emerges:

Father, may I sit
here,
in the shade
of a palm leaf?

To shelter,
from the blazing sun
the afternoon heat
the walk up home
and my daily chores

A gentle breeze
stirs the air,
cooling my body

Recovering myself
I say:

My Lord,
I thank You
for letting me in
and granting me blessings

I will return,
to thank You
and tell You
how much pleasure
they gave us

I pray
I depart
in Your good graces
and will come back tomorrow
to keep you company.
