Healing Is a Communal Journey
I did not know as a child
that what surrounds us
shapes what we become
the voices that guided us,
the care that held us,
and the care that was missing.
I believed time alone would heal,
that growing older
meant growing free
from what once hurt us.
But healing taught me something deeper.
What is unspoken
finds a home in the body,
in our relationships,
in the way we learn to endure
instead of rest.
Some wounds are not chosen.
They are inherited through silence,
through struggle,
through generations learning survival
before learning safety.
And yet, we rise.
In community, we begin to name what was hidden.
In shared stories, we remember
that pain carried alone becomes heavier,
but pain held together begins to soften.
Healing is not weakness.
It is courage practiced quietly.
It is choosing care where there was none,
and compassion where there was judgment.
It is remembering that wellness
is not an individual journey
it is collective,
it is cultural,
it is deeply human.
When one of us heals,
we make space for many more to breathe.
