A grove of Tamarack Trees in Winter
Nights begin to crackle with the cold
Frost sparkles in the moonlight,
Blanket of snow magic over the Earth
The outside work is done
The Earth is resting
As I prepare for Winter Solstice.
And as the day approaches
I look forward to my time in hibernation
As I cleaned out my home, untangling my life
Getting ready for when
I slow to a stop.
Like the frogs in the ponds,
Like a bear
I rest and catch up with myself
And on this day, I turned to psychic matters
The work we do as women on these days
I cleanse myself, I fast,
Take hot baths with lavender,
Drink ginger tea,
Become quiet and empty,
Breathe in fresh air mixed with starlight,
Making room for my energy to flow
And then I meet with like hearted women
We laugh, embrace and celebrate our love,
Then protect our circle as we enter
An evening set aside for us to grow,
And in the darkness, we begin to form a web of thought,
Reaching distances,
Connecting with the others
That we know are circling likewise
To concentrate our power,
Rebalancing the energy of women,
Strength strengthening our energy,
Rekindling our culture,
Protected by this magic
A moment on this day
To be outside of all, we usually do,
Working together to end of violence.
On this night before a psychic web of peace and strength
Add a return to the times when women were respected
Opening a pathway
Two times of women standing strong,
Standing fed, and safe, and warm,
In all of our voluptuous beauty
Connected to each other, our passion, free to sore,
The web growing ever stronger, humming with our desire.
As we spiral our thoughts into the darkest night,
We from the North
Spread our wings to the east and west
Joining hands as we return our song to the South
Welcoming back the light
Symbol of our hopes
Reaching to greet our sisters in the South
As they thank the light for all it gives
We create a heartbeat of passion across time and space
As we meet for our ideals to become real
We become as one.
We form of protection and then return
To relish our time of hibernation
To start again, slowly, majestically
Rested from the strength of the light
Returning now to us again
Starting on this night.
I am a woman
I give you my hand
We are Women
Our circle is forming
We are Women
Our circle is powerful
We are Women
Our circle has always been
Eternal
