Dictator Bukenya Joseph Demoted at Kisozi High School

Kisozi, Uganda – October 2025:

In a dramatic move at Kisozi High School, 17-year-old student Bukenya Joseph, also known as Buk Josh, was demoted from his leadership position following allegations of abuse of power and misconduct.

Bukenya, currently a Senior 3 student, joined Kisozi High School in 2024 and quickly became timekeeper in Term 2 of Senior 1. However, his time in student leadership was marked by controversy. Sources describe him as a political dictator, allegedly forcing fellow students to complete tasks for him and punishing those who did not comply.

“At one point, he used students’ hard work as leverage, threatening punishment if tasks were not done,” said a fellow student who wished to remain anonymous. “Many of us felt intimidated, and he was not liked by most students.”

Bukenya had ambitions to become head monitor, but his name did not initially appear on the ballot. After a reprint, he was assigned as boys’ sanitary prefect, but reports suggested that teachers influenced the voting process, angering many students.

His leadership practices, coupled with poor academic performance and frequent absenteeism, contributed to his downfall. When students reported his actions to the counselor and class monitor, the school administration intervened, resulting in his demotion in October 2025.

The incident has sparked conversations among students and staff about ethical leadership and accountability, with many hoping that future student leaders will act responsibly and fairly.

Bukenya’s story serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of misusing power, even within a school setting.
