CLIMATE CHANGE: A CHALLENGE OR A CALL FOR BEING TOGETHER?

The word “Land” has a significant meaning to me as it reminds me my country Bangladesh that has nurtured me with its fresh breeze and evergreen trees. I can say a lot describing the natural beauty of my land. However, I am afraid that whether the next generation will be able to describe it because my sweet homeland is now at the risk of being the victim of climate change. According to the “YOUTH SUMMIT ON CLIMATE CHANGE-SWITZERLAND 2005,” by the next 100 years, one-fifth of Bangladesh is going to be submerged under water by displacing about 20 million people. As a daughter of Bangladesh, this prediction threatens my environment, my home and my life - all those are the core of my existence! Climate is one of the most imperative shades for our existence. Our existence will be threatened if there is no affable environment for us to subsist. Of note, in our earth, already the consequences of climate change are detectable due to global warming that is significantly caused by the excessive emission of carbon dioxide. In order to save my land from the brink, a “Green Revolution” is required as recently the prime minister has attended a meeting, headed by the UN secretary Ban Ki-Moon, to get assistance of the developed countries. Can I dream my next generation is enjoying the green Bangladesh, which makes me feel proud to say “My Bengal of Gold, I love you?”
