Building our (HIV/AIDS) movement

29 Aug-- first blog entry.

HI all,

Today I had a conference call with some of the key leaders working on global women's HIV issues -- representatives from WORLD, the Well Project, ATHENA, ICW and ITPC... key frontline advocacy folks.. and talked about next steps related to building a stronger global women's HIV movement, how to mainstream HIV/AIDS so that it is viewed with greater visibility as an issue of paramount urgency for women globally - and in US, and what concrete strategies we can use to focus this movement buildling work. I shared my thoughts on creating women's report cards to analyse our progress and key gaps, key steps -- as a tool for doing work in many countries with a unified goal and advocacy focus. Seemed to be an idea others support. We will continue to explore this in weeks to come. Felt good to be talking about advocacy, concrete actions and goals. I need my activism to be tangible, measurable.
