Supporting Each Other Through Mental Health
Since I started sharing about mental health and the challenges young people face, I’ve been able to support about 12 close people, including family and friends. They are dealing with struggles like school, work, university, anxiety, stress, and depression.
My other initiative has impacted 27 people. So, in total I have impacted 39 people on and offline.
Through my own experience and the resources I’ve explored, including therapists and psychiatrists, I’ve shared what I’ve learned with them. My goal has been to help them know they are not alone, that it’s okay to take life one day at a time, and that asking for help is a strong and necessary step.
Even small conversations and guidance can make a difference. Supporting each other and being open about mental health creates space for growth, understanding, and healing.
A Gentle Start to the Year
How is everyone doing this new year? I hope we are all well, taking time to reflect while still moving toward our dreams. At the same time, I’m learning that it’s just as important to slow down and move with intention. Taking care of ourselves matters.
I’ve been open about mental health on this platform. Mine was deeply affected in July 2025 after I lost my dad. Since then, I’ve felt like a different person. My priorities have shifted, and I now approach life more gently. I’m calmer, taking each day as it comes, and sharing my journey here on World Pulse has helped more than I can put into words.
I am a writer, a journalist, and more, and writing has become a big part of my healing. It feels like a conversation with myself. The more I write, the clearer I feel, and the support I’ve received here has made the process easier. Knowing that my words resonate with others has been deeply comforting.
After learning to slow down and take better care of my mental health, here are five changes I’ve made in my life: I no longer move with urgency but with intention, I’m sleeping better and allowing my body to rest, I’ve incorporated meditation and regular exercise into my routine, I’m making more thoughtful decisions both professionally and personally, and I feel calmer and healthier while paying more attention to how I eat.
My dad may not be here physically, but I believe he is still cheering me on in his own way.
What have you changed or embraced this year?
With love,
Mendy
