You alone make your world better!

My name is Ravi Sebastian. I am a social worker and the Founder of NewBeginnings Charitable Trust (NCT), a grassroots nonprofit in India working to protect women and girls from child marriage, human trafficking, and domestic violence.

Over the years, I have walked alongside girls forced into early marriage, young women rescued from trafficking networks, and mothers enduring silent domestic abuse. Each story has left a mark on me. Each story has reminded me that violence against women is not an isolated incident — it is a systemic failure we must confront together.

Child marriage is not just a tradition; it is the burial of a girl’s childhood and dreams. Human trafficking is not just a crime; it is a betrayal of our shared humanity. Domestic violence is not a “family matter”; it is a violation of dignity and fundamental rights.

Despite constitutions promising equality and institutions advocating justice, many women continue to experience abuse within their own communities. Change does not occur automatically. It begins when we choose not to look away.

At NCT, we provide legal support and trauma counselling for survivors. We help rescued girls return to school and rebuild their confidence. Women who have escaped trafficking receive functional literacy education and vocational training. Today, 87% of the women we train secure employment, and those who pursue entrepreneurship receive small seed capital to begin independent livelihoods.

Alongside rehabilitation, we pursue justice. Holding perpetrators accountable is essential if prevention is to become a reality.

As a professional social worker with a background in psychology and rehabilitation, I have learned one powerful truth: healing begins when survivors are believed, supported, and given opportunity.

Violence happens in silence. Prevention begins with courage.
