I was once told that having programme featuring diverse women leaders reporting on their priorities was not commercial enough.

That led me on a journey that took me to my first AMARC Asia-Pacific conference in 2023, discovering the 'radio in a suitcase' and discussions about how community radio formats could be developed for and with women in all their diversities.

World Radio Day 2026 is a reminder of how community radio amplified the #realvoice for many diverse women in #Fiji and the #Pacific since the 1st suitcase radio broadcast in May 2004.

The initiative began following the 2000 political crisis and continued despite media controls following the 2006 coup.

Vinaka-Shukriya to all those who believed in the power of not just a 100 watt transmitter but the power of "diverse women speaking to women for peace"
