Women Supporting Women

Across the globe many women and girls still face discrimination on the basis of sex and gender. Gender inequality underpins many problems which disproportionately affect women and girls, such as domestic and sexual violence, lower pay, lack of access to education, and inadequate healthcare.    Most women encounter discrimination at work, where they are denied opportunities to advance to specific positions or take on specific roles just because they are women.  When a woman achieves any kind of success, some males find it intimidating.

I  vividly recall going on a date with a guy who I was interested in, and he was interested in me too, but I was turned off the moment he said he wouldn't marry or enter into a relationship with a woman who is more successful or earns more money than him. What a stupid thing to say I blurted this out to him, he responded that a woman with more money or success than him would not be submissive or respectful to him. The moment I got home I blocked him from ever contacting me.

We are Women and our identities are neither that of a controllable remote control or a stationary dummy waiting for its owner to reposition it. We as Women(Females) ought to have the freedom to develop and achieve our goals. We ought to be treated equally , respectfully and not be restricted to a particular position or social level. We should  be able to soar to great heights unhindered, like eagles, and spread our wings as widely as possible. 

It breaks my heart to see how many women with potential, talents, skills, and so much more are afraid to reach their full potential because of the belief that women shouldn't have the same freedom and opportunities as men is ingrained in society, religion, family, spouses, traditions, culture, and even some workplaces. Certain traditions, cultures, and religion even go so far as to say that a woman's sole role is to become a mother whose duty is to stay at home caring for her family and children🙄. 

Beyond bearing children and tending to a man's needs, women are capable of much more. We can become CEOs, physicians, technicians, nurses, pilots, entrepreneurs, business owners, politicians, and a host of other things. We are capable of doing more and doing it much better. Women need to take charge of their lives and break free from the constraints placed on them by society, religion, culture, tradition, workplace and marriage customs. These barriers are keeping most women from achieving the positions, statuses, dreams, plans, and aspirations that they desperately want to. 

Not only can we release the constraints and norms that binds us, we also need to inspire hope in every woman out there letting her know that she can overcome the limitations placed on her.

Yes We are Women: We are Powerful, Unique and We can achieve anything we set our heart and mind too. Together We will Soar much higher there is nothing that can hold us down.
