Wings of Dignity

Proud to be collaborating on the Wings of Dignity initiative with Faith Muli under the World Pulse

Stronger Together framework.

We chose to run this initiative because in many Kenyan communities, especially in less-exposedrural areas, women who do not have children face harsh stigma and social punishment.

Many are abandoned, blamed, isolated, and labeled as barren, cursed, witches, broken, unworthy, or useless women. They are often accused of spiritual wrongdoing, witchcraft, or past abortions.

This cruelty is not driven by truth, but by lack of access to reproductive health knowledge, limited exposure to medical information, and deeply rooted cultural myths about women’s bodies. As a result, women suffer emotional violence, dignity loss, and silent suffering for conditions they did not choose and cannot control.

Most of these communities are never given access to accurate reproductive health education. Medical realities behind infertility and pregnancy loss are rarely explained, and conditions such as ectopic pregnancies, recurrent miscarriages, congenital womb differences, blocked fallopian tubes, fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS, hormonal disorders, and reproductive trauma are misunderstood or ignored. In the absence of medical knowledge, myths replace science, blamereplaces understanding, and women’s bodies become the easiest place to project guilt and shame.

This initiative exists to change that — through education, dialogue, community sensitization, and dignity-centered reproductive health awareness.
