Who is Nyanzi Martin Luther? The 16-Year-Old Ugandan Media CEO Petitioning Parliament for

By Daily Telegraph | United Kingdom, Kampala, Uganda – April 10, 2026

Nyanzi Martin Luther, born on December 5, 2009, in Kampala, Uganda, is a 16-year-old entrepreneur, media proprietor, youth advocate, and civic activist who has rapidly risen to national attention as the Founder and CEO of Apex Media Services.

The teenage CEO is currently making headlines after petitioning Parliament to enact a stricter “eye-for-an-eye” capital punishment law in direct response to the brutal stabbing of four toddlers at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program School in Makindye Division on April 2, 2026.

A Humble and Challenging Beginning

Nyanzi was born to parents Joan Vumilia and Ssekaayi Simon. He has two sisters — Nakaayi Dorcus and Nabagulanyi Patricia — and a half-sibling, Namagembe Marion. His family life has not always been stable. After his parents separated, his mother left with one of his sisters, while young Nyanzi remained with his father.

Despite his father being regarded as relatively well-off in their village, Nyanzi has spoken openly about the hardships of his early life — owning only four pairs of clothes and eating posho and beans almost daily. These experiences, he says, shaped his resilience and drive to build something of his own from a young age.

Education Amidst Entrepreneurship

His educational journey has been equally eventful. He started nursery at St. Anne Junior School, attended Upendo Christian School for Primary 1 to 4, briefly joined God’s Hands Junior School in Buddo, and eventually completed his primary education at MK International School in Busega, where he scored an impressive 13 aggregates in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

He is currently a student at Kisozi High School in Buddo, Wakiso District, where he continues his secondary education while running his growing media business.

Building a Media Empire

At just 16, Nyanzi Martin Luther is the founder and CEO of Apex Media Services, a multimedia company that operates several radio stations, including Block FM 103.2, NUP Radio, and Homeboyz Radio Uganda 106.2 FM. Through Apex Media, he has also launched the Apex Digital Skills initiative, which trains young Ugandans in broadcasting, content creation, digital entrepreneurship, and media production.

His entry into business began around 2023 with initial support, and he has since turned Apex Media into a platform that amplifies youth voices and community issues across the country.

The Latest Petition: A Call for Radical Justice Reform

Following the horrific Ggaba nursery school attack — in which four children aged three and below were killed by a machete-wielding suspect — Nyanzi did not remain silent. He publicly condemned the killings and urged Parliament to pass a new, stronger Capital Punishment Act based on the principle of “an eye for an eye.”

“The way you kill someone is the same way you’re to be killed too,” he stated firmly. He described the proposed law as “direct and stronger” and declared his readiness to launch a public petition to push lawmakers into action — similar to his earlier submission of the NGO Funding Bill, 2026, which sought greater transparency, reduced foreign donor dependence, and better support for local community organizations.

The proposal has sparked intense national debate, with supporters seeing it as a necessary deterrent to violent crime and critics questioning the ethics of literal retaliation in the justice system.

A Young Voice Shaping National Conversations

Beyond business and advocacy, Nyanzi positions himself as a practical problem-solver focused on youth empowerment, child safety, education, and economic self-reliance for Ugandan organizations. He continues to balance his studies at Kisozi High School with running his media outlets and mentoring young people through his digital skills programs.

As Uganda grapples with questions of justice, child protection, and the role of its youth in nation-building, Nyanzi Martin Luther represents a new generation that refuses to wait for adulthood to have a voice. Whether one agrees with his bold proposals or not, the 16-year-old CEO has once again forced important conversations onto the national stage.
