When did being a girl start feeling like a full-time negotiation?

Why does freedom feel less like a right and more like alms…
or like we’re forced to sign a contract written by someone else?
I don’t think I’ll ever understand the agenda behind “women’s rights” while still expecting us to compromise at every stage, at every age.
No matter how glorified empowerment and rallies become, somewhere in the background, behind the veil… women’s voices are still softened, suppressed, second-guessed. Millions of girls around the world experience this, silently, every day.
Afraid of asking for too much.
Constantly doubting decisions.
Called emotional instead of logical.
And so she negotiates, for everyone.
At home — her brother gets favours and applause, while she gets unnoticed.
A small thing, right? But the impact is enormous.
With her husband — she shouldn’t walk ahead of him, should feed him daily, should give the “desired” gender.
But she is “free” to use his credit card, not her own.
Even her father says she’s free to do everything…
Then why, after a certain age, is she made to feel like a guest in her own home?
Like someone else’s daughter already?
When a very high-profile case comes to light and you think justice is served,
what about those silent faces, their negotiations every day — taken for
granted and never heard?
