UNSEEN BATTLES, UNBROKEN SPIRIT

“Unseen Battles, Unbroken Spirit”

I wake up every day with responsibilities heavier than most people can see.

To the world, I may just look like a quiet, ordinary person someone people even judge for being “too small” or “not gaining weight.” They laugh, they talk, they assume. But what they don’t see is the life I live behind the scenes.

I am a pillar in my family.

I take care of my parents, both fighting silent battles of their own. My father lives with prostate cancer and arthritis some days he is strong, but many days, pain speaks louder than words. My mother has battled diabetes for 14 years, and now it’s affecting her eyesight. On top of that, she struggles with hypertension she barely sleep every night. Watching the two people who raised me grow weaker is a pain I carry quietly.

At the same time, I support my little brother through university, determined to see him succeed no matter how hard it gets.

Every month feels like a puzzle I must solve how to stretch so little into something enough. Most times, I barely have anything left for myself. But somehow, by God’s grace, we make it through. And for that, I remain grateful. Because truly, God has never left me.

Still, life doesn’t stop testing me.

For years, I have been body shamed. People talk about my weight as if it defines me, as if it tells my whole story. They don’t know the nights I go to bed worried. They don’t know the sacrifices I make. They don’t know the silent tears or the strength it takes just to keep going.

But I made a decision. I refused to let my struggles break me. Instead, I chose to turn my pain into purpose.

That is how the “PAD A GIRL INITIATIVE” was born.

Even with so little, I reached out to well-wishers, asking for support so we could buy sanitary pads for young girls and educate them about period poverty. It wasn’t easy starting, but I believed in it.

And every time I organize a session, every time I sit with those girls, every time I see them smile, laugh, and feel seen I am reminded why I started. Their joy heals something in me. Their hope becomes my strength. In those moments, I forget my struggles, even if just for a while. I see transformation, not just in them, but in myself too.

And I know this is bigger than me.

So I keep going.

Through the pain.

Through the lack.

Through the judgment.

Because I believe one day, my story will not just be about survival but about impact.

And until every girl I can reach stands tall with dignity and confidence…

I will not stop.

Not until every girl knows her worth.

Not until every girl can stand tall without shame.

Not until lives are transformed.

Because even in the middle of my storm, I chose to become someone else’s light. ✨
