THE IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING NEW SKILLS
GRAB EVERY FREE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN NEW SKILLS - IT IS AN INVESTMENT FOR YOUR FUTURE!!!
Acquiring various skills is vital for your Personal Development. Make it a goal for this year if at all you never learn anything new at work or in the community...lose the mentality of "it is not my job...." Free skills are hard to find, if you get an opportunity, grab it...it will benefit you in the future.
One of the skills I acquired at my workplace beyond my qualifications as a Patient Care Healthcare Assistant is Administration Services.
I started working in 2013 without any computer skills. But for about 12 years now, I had an exposure to various skills of working in the office. I can stand in for the Administration Officer on her off days or leave. It does not only benefit my employer at work but as an individual I have a privilege to do my own documentation at my own time and my own space like Updating my Curriculum Vitae, Personal Profile on my phone. It saves me time and money to hire people to do the work for me. I only go to the Internet Cafe with readily made documents for printing. If it happens that I want to make some corrections , I buy limited time to edit, type, print and make copies at the Internet Cafe.
One most important thing, as the Founder, Director and Chairperson of Show A Woman Organization ( SAVE A WOMAN ) it has put me in a position that needs more of Administration work...guess who got privileged to have learnt such skills when she got an opportunity....? Yes of course, yours truly, Ms Babedi Samakabadi. I prepare the organization official documents for the government, I make Proposals, Official Letters, Official Statements, Referreces, Certificates....etc.
So think twice when you have an attitude that blocks you opportunities to grow as an individual. Learning skills is not only about getting promotions at that work place but it is more of being a knowledgeable person, a relevant person, a skilled person , an independent, a well equipped leader, an asset. It is not always about being used or taken advantage of...learn to take advantage of opportunities, learn to think positive of every situation. Unless and indeed you are ill-treated by the supervisors then you can draw the line.
