As a Digital Ambassador, Power Encourager, and Featured Changemaker on World Pulse, I am proposing a collaborative initiative titled Brighter Girls Project: Empowering Girls to Lead, Thrive, and Inspire Change, in collabration with Raquel Kasham Daniel, a fellow World Pulse Digital Ambassador of Beyond the Classroom Foundation and Itswell a fellow World Pulse Changemaker. Together, under the #StrongerTogether, we will implement a three-day intensive empowerment and life skills program for 50 adolescent girls (ages 13–19) from two secondary schools in low income community of Kabusa in Northern Nigeria.
In Kabusa community, girls struggle with low self-esteem, limited leadership exposure, inadequate access to accurate menstrual health information, and deeply rooted limiting beliefs about what they can achieve. These challenges contribute to disengagement in school, silence around menstrual health, and diminished aspirations. Through this collaborative initiative, we aim to create a safe, girl-centered learning space where participants can build confidence, understand their bodies with dignity, and develop the resilience and leadership mindset necessary to remain in school and pursue their full potential.
The Brighter Girls Project will be structured across three thematic days. Day One, “I Know Who I Am,” will focus on leadership and self-awareness, helping girls explore identity, personal strengths, communication skills, and goal-setting. Day Two, “I Understand My Body,” will center on menstrual health and hygiene, addressing myths and facts, promoting body confidence, and equipping girls to manage their periods in school with dignity. Day Three, “I Can Become More,” will address limiting beliefs, growth mindset, resilience, and long-term educational aspirations, culminating in personal commitment pledges and recognition.
Our methodology is participatory and culturally sensitive, combining safe-space facilitation, storytelling, peer learning, interactive exercises, and reflection. We anticipate short-term outcomes such as improved confidence, stronger communication skills, and accurate menstrual health knowledge; medium-term outcomes including increased school engagement and reduced stigma around menstruation; and long-term impact reflected in more girls staying in school and emerging as confident young leaders in their community.
The requested USD 1,250.00 will support our collaborative work by covering trainingWith the sum of USD 1,250.00 to support our collabarative initiative, we will covering training materials, menstrual health kits, facilitation logistics, transportation, refreshments, documentation, and modest coordination stipends for both implementing partners. Funds will also support follow-up mentorship sessions and the identification of 15–20 Brighter Girls Peer Leaders who will sustain school-based support circles. Both collaborators will document progress using the World Pulse Initiative Update feature, providing consistent updates and a final impact summary at year end.
This initiative is innovative in its integration of leadership development, menstrual dignity, and mindset transformation within a short, high impact model that is replicable in other underserved communities. It aligns with urgent grassroots challenges facing girls in Nigeria and demonstrates the power of intentional collaboration among World Pulse members. Through Brighter Girls Project, we are not only delivering a three day program, we are nurturing a growing network of self-aware, resilient, and purpose -driven young female leaders in Kabusa community and ofcourse Nigeria at large.
