Sneak Peak of "the Sweeping Maid" novel series

The story itself is short, much shorter then I thought it was as i was writing it. I proudly finished the first part of the trilogy but then saw it fell way short of a novel! I was telling my daughters it is only this many pages and one was like "oh so it is a novella?" I looked up what a novella was then was like "yeah, exactly!" :p

This was written to introduce the tv series I am writing, help set the scene so when you watch it you feel a part of them already. So, without further ado here is the first page sneak peak! Do let me know your thoughts on it! For me, I know these stories inside and out so know each nuance of each line, but it may not make much sense to someone just meeting my world for the first time :P (Also, my editor has not proofread yet so I may have many a run on sentence :p ) I just wanted to see what you guys thought of it...and it is included in the 5 short stories I am planning on releasing soon to help raise money to get these projects into full production!

Chapter One Welcome to my World

I guess you could say that it is ultimately our fault. We got complacent, but not careless. The outer worlds know of us and we have good relations most everywhere and are treated as diplomats in areas that don’t like us and instead only tolerate us. I am the 6th generation from the destruction of earth as we knew it.

That sounds more dramatic then I meant it to be. We had the apocalypse and end of our genocide and things were improving when a band of Europeans surprise attacked and ended up setting off a chain of explosions that blew the earth into parts. Our half was safe because of our protective barriers but the other half was in major peril.

We did not want them on our lands ever again after so long of them harming us, but we could not let them suffer and die needlessly either. My great, great, great grandma (5 generations ago) was the leader of an elite team sent to “help” the exploded half of the earth.

Most survivors of that shattered half just wanted to be safe so quickly adapted to our ways and lifestyles. It was not too different then rural cultures over there so adaptation went smoothly for the most part. For most, but not all. Some refused to believe or accept their glory days of stealing resources, lands and such was over forever.

It was a devastating war where we ended up having to kill 5,000 bosses or leaders of gangs. Any death, especially needless ones are sad, this was tragic. The remaining 100 were put into a sort of prison. It numbed their minds and sort of froze their bodies, so they did not think and have time to plan anything, they were like empty shells frozen in time.

I am sad to say it became a sort of tourist attraction even over time. The embassy was in what what once Ireland, as we had the best relation with these clans so it naturally became our chosen spot to set up our emergency camp. Combating the unknown weeds trying to take over the land masses was our first order of business. Our domes can keep anything out (or in) and we tried to set up as many as possible to try to save as many as we could. It was a thankless job as they blamed us for their bad fortune.
