16 Days of Activism

Senegal, West Africa — Greetings Queen Sheba here for Queen Sheba Village, a humanitarian organization dedicated to empowering women, girls, and impoverished communities, proudly joins the international 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. As a women-led volunteering organization with a proven track record of community advocacy, education, agriculture, and wellness initiatives, Queen Sheba Village continues to raise its voice for the protection, dignity, and advancement of women and girls across Senegal and beyond.

Through its expanding programs—including women’s leadership development, rural agriculture training, anti-FGC education, youth empowerment, and the upcoming Queen Sheba Education Social Center—the organization champions basic human rights while providing tangible support that uplifts families and strengthens communities. This year, Queen Sheba Village emphasizes action-based solutions: creating safe educational spaces, expanding access to mental health and wellness resources, advocating for girls’ rights, and promoting economic empowerment for vulnerable women.

Queen Sheba Village collaborates with international volunteers, partner organizations, and grassroots leaders to ensure long-term impact. The organization remains committed to using its voice, platforms, and programs to amplify the lived experiences of women and girls facing poverty, violence, and inequality.

“As we honor the resilience of women and girls globally, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to safeguarding their rights, nurturing their potential, and advocating for a world free from violence".

Queen Sheba Village calls on supporters, partners, and global allies to stand in solidarity and fuel the movement for change.

For two decades, Queen Sheba Village has stood as a beacon of hope, cultural dignity, and community strength—particularly for girls growing up in rural Senegal where resources are limited, opportunities are scarce, and traditional barriers often hinder the dreams of the next generation. Through its dedicated programs, the organization has created lifelines for countless young women seeking education, safety, mentorship, and economic independence.

The heart of the organization’s work lies in its commitment to uplifting girls from childhood into empowered adulthood. Queen Sheba Village is actively expanding its education efforts through the Queen Sheba Education Social Center, a soon-to-be sanctuary where girls can learn, study, and discover their talents in a protected environment free from violence and discrimination. This center represents more than a building—it symbolizes hope, advancement, and the collective responsibility to invest in girls’ futures.

Additionally, the organization’s advocacy against harmful practices, including female genital cutting, continues to spark conversations and shifts long-standing norms through culturally sensitive education. By working collaboratively with mothers, grandmothers, community leaders, and global partners, Queen Sheba Village helps reshape generational narratives surrounding women’s health and autonomy. These efforts ensure that girls today—and the daughters they will raise—inherit a world rooted more in compassion than tradition.

Through agriculture and leadership training, young women gain practical skills, enabling them to contribute to household income and expand their sense of self-worth. These programs foster independence and encourage girls to envision themselves not as victims of circumstance, but as contributors, innovators, and future leaders who will positively impact their communities.

The youth empowerment initiative further strengthens this vision by creating a space where young girls can learn confidence, discipline, academic excellence, and emotional resilience. Volunteers from around the world, working alongside the Queen Sheba Village team, nurture these young talents and help shape a new generation committed to peace, integrity, and global citizenship.

Queen Sheba Village’s story is one of courage, compassion, and collective empowerment—a testament to what is possible when advocacy is paired with action, and when girls are given the tools to rise, lead, and transform their world.
