OLD MAN SMILE😊

Yesterday morning, as I stood at the market place waiting for my bus to work, I noticed an old man sitting quietly by the roadside. He looked completely helpless his clothes were torn, his body dusty, and his eyes carried the heaviness of deep hunger. The sight of him stopped me for a moment, and before I knew it, my heart tightened and my eyes grew teary.

I couldn’t just walk past. Something in me kept whispering, ā€˜Do something… even if it’s small.’ So I stepped into a nearby stall and bought a clean shirt and some bananas. When I handed them to him, he looked at me with surprise, almost as if he wasn’t used to anyone noticing him.

He quickly changed into the new shirt, and the way he looked at himself almost shy, almost proud touched me deeply. Then he began to eat the bananas with such gratefulness that it warmed my heart. And for the first time since I saw him, he smiled. It wasn’t a big smile, but it was genuine and in that moment, I found myself smiling back.

Walking away, I realized something powerful: kindness doesn’t have to be loud or grand to make a difference. Sometimes it’s the simple act of seeing someone truly seeing them that can restore hope. I may have given him a shirt and some food, but he gave me something too a reminder that compassion still matters, and that even the smallest gesture can light up someone’s day.
