Measured no more

They weigh her the moment she enters a room.

Eyes turning into scales, mouths into verdicts

Too smart to fit in, too short to be taken seriously.

Too good to be true, too soft for the world

Too loud to be trusted, too quiet to execute a task.

Her worth tallied in every direction

Too thin to be strong, too big to be healthy

Too old for her age ,too tall to be gentle.

A question in every glance

If she marries, they ask when

Is she doesn't,they ask why

Marriage becomes a deadline, it's absence becomes a flaw.

No inch of her excapes judgement

No choice goes unquestioned.

No woman walks free of the ledger

Still she walks on;

Learning to cup her heart

Away from sharp opinions

Letting their voices pass like wind through leaves.

And the world -suddenly unsure

Keeps counting.

She's already somewhere else.
