Learning in the Dark, Growing by Faith

Seeking
Encouragement
I decided to learn data analytics at a time when I had little support and no clear roadmap. I did not have mentors guiding me or a community to lean on. What I had instead were doubts, pressure, and the fear of failing after investing money I did not fully have.
To pay for my learning, I relied on loans from my parents. That decision came with weight. I knew I had to make the sacrifice count. Every lesson felt like a test, not just of skill, but of discipline and belief in myself. There were moments when the concepts felt overwhelming and progress was slow, but quitting was never an option.
I also learned very quickly that learning a technical skill is not just about intelligence. It is about endurance. There were days when I questioned my decision entirely. I watched others seem to move faster, get help easily, or already have connections that I did not. Comparison crept in quietly and tried to steal my confidence. I had to consciously choose to stay focused on my own lane and remind myself why I started.
The financial pressure was always present. Knowing the money I was using came from my parents’ loans made every setback feel heavier. When something did not work, it was not just my time on the line, it was their trust. That responsibility forced me to become more disciplined. I treated my learning like a job. I showed up even when I did not feel ready. I studied even when I was tired. I practiced even when I felt behind.
There were moments when I felt completely alone in the process. I would get stuck on a problem for hours with no one to ask. I had to learn how to research, how to sit with confusion, and how to fail quietly and try again. That loneliness was difficult, but it also shaped me. It taught me self-reliance and patience. It taught me that growth does not always come with applause or encouragement.
Faith became my anchor. I prayed not just for success, but for strength to continue. I asked God for peace when anxiety tried to overwhelm me. I asked for wisdom to understand what I was learning and courage to trust the process. There were days when prayer was the only thing that calmed my mind enough to continue studying. In those moments, I realized that faith was not separate from my work. It was deeply connected to it.
Slowly, the effort began to compound. Concepts that once confused me started to connect. I began to see patterns instead of chaos. Small wins gave me confidence. Completing a task, understanding a dataset, or solving a problem on my own felt like quiet victories. Each one reminded me that persistence was working, even when progress felt invisible.
As I grew in skill, I also grew in perspective. I became more aware of how knowledge can be used responsibly. Data is powerful. It influences decisions, policies, and people’s lives. That awareness deepened my commitment to using my skills ethically and thoughtfully. I wanted my work to contribute to clarity, fairness, and informed decision-making, not harm or confusion.
The journey also reshaped how I view peace. I learned that peace is not only about the absence of conflict. Sometimes, peace is choosing not to give up when things are hard. It is learning to quiet fear, manage pressure, and keep going without bitterness. It is finding balance between ambition and faith, effort and surrender.
Looking back, I see that the struggle was necessary. It refined my character as much as it built my skill. I learned humility by starting from zero. I learned gratitude by relying on support I did not earn on my own. I learned resilience by surviving moments I once thought would break me.
Today, I carry that experience with me as a reminder of what is possible when determination meets grace. I am more empathetic toward others who are learning quietly, struggling without visible support. I understand the value of creating spaces where people feel seen, encouraged, and empowered. That understanding fuels my desire to contribute to conversations around growth, opportunity, and peace.
This journey taught me that purpose often reveals itself through difficulty. What began as a simple decision to learn a skill became a lesson in faith, discipline, and inner strength. I am grateful for the struggle, for the lessons, and for the grace that carried me through when my own strength felt insufficient.
I pushed through long nights of practice, confusion, and repeated mistakes. What carried me through was sheer will and faith in God. I prayed for clarity, strength, and the patience to keep going when motivation ran low. Step by step, things began to make sense. What once felt impossible slowly became familiar.
By God’s grace and consistent effort, I scaled through. That journey taught me resilience, humility, and the power of faith combined with action. It reminded me that growth often begins in isolation, but perseverance can turn uncertainty into purpose.
