first-story
Land holds everyone’s burdens and sorrows, for it is responsible for creating them. Burdens arise from land and falls back onto it, therefore it is only land that knows the pressure of the people that experience it. It has the ability to attract people in the manner that it wants and treat them in various ways.
Land holds the responsibility for all the events that takes place daily, though good or bad, and meanwhile gets to experience it. This land that we rest on is in charge for the most devastating incident that took place in Sri Lanka in the year 2004, December, the Tsunami, a result of the collision between plateaus. It also destroyed almost all of our property along the coastal area, including human lives, regardless of age, gender and race. Even houses, vehicles, trees were also toppled as if they were rejected.
In a way, one can think that this event united people from all around the country who gathered to help those in need and tried to influence peace within them, but the damage had been done.
Yet, among all this, our property was uprooted from the land, but it still fell back to where it came from, and this shows that land has ownership over all of us. After years passed, the land has gradually reformed itself, the way it used to be, with the help of those who he rejected but still we can say that land is unpredictable!
