Protect Women 365 Days — Join Hands Around the World to End Gender-Based Violence
🌍 Join Hands Around the World — A Call to End Gender-Based Violence
At 50, I reached a moment where I asked myself what I would leave behind that truly matters. I could not celebrate this milestone without contributing something that speaks to the world we are living in and the world we know is possible.
Join Hands Around the World was born from that intention. What began as a song has become a growing movement for hope, healing, and reconciliation between women and men.

The response has been deeply moving, over 86,000 views and more than 100 comments from people across the world.
Here are just a few voices:
“This song and initiative is exactly what the world needs right now. Women need to feel safe.”
“This is a powerful message… a voice on behalf of many women and children who have been silenced by fear.”
“So empowering and uplifting… the message truly comes through.”
“POWERFUL!! Let our voices be heard. United we are stronger.”
“We need to spread this message as much as possible. Let’s break the silence and protect women and girls.”
This song was also chosen as a world peace song. Because the truth is simple:
Our world cannot be at peace if women and girls are violated and feel unsafe.
⸻
Growing up, I was surrounded by women in my family and community whose strength carried so much, often in silence. Through my work with Mystic Sisters, I have listened to many stories of gender-based violence.
These are not just stories. They are lived experiences.
And they stay with you.
They ask something of you.
So this is my response.
In the song, I say:
“Being female ain’t a weakness.”
This is not just a lyric. It is a stand for dignity, strength, and truth.
⸻
âś‹ This is a call to action
Ending gender-based violence is not a women’s issue alone.
It is a human responsibility.
I invite both women and men to take part:
• Join hands with someone in your life, a partner, friend, colleague, or family member
• Speak a message of respect, dignity, and equality
• Record a short video using the chorus of the song
• Share it and invite others to do the same
Let us create a visible, global wave of unity.

🎶 Lyrics: Join Hands Around the World (Excerpt)
Girls, women
We watch them fall
One by one like broken dolls
Stripped of her uniqueness
Battered and defeated
Shamed, blamed, humiliated
Let’s get this straight
Being female ain’t a weakness
We’re strong and so gracious
Hardworking and fearless
⸻
Join hands all around the world
Woza Woza Woza
End violence against women and girls
⸻
She has a right to live her life
Feel safe all through day and night
You are not alone
We are right here beside you
Together we can fight this battle
