Give to Gain

Give love.

Give honour.

Give integrity.

Give respect.

As women, we must understand that what we give is what we receive.

Too often, women stand against one another. Instead of supporting each other, we sometimes become a source of pain to one another. Why should a woman desire another woman’s husband? Why compete for what does not belong to you? Whether in the church, fellowship, workplace, or community — if it is not yours, do not take it. Give respect. Respect another woman.

A wife should not fight her mother-in-law. That woman gave birth to the man you love. She raised him and helped shape him into who he is today. Honour your mother-in-law, and you will gain respect.

In the same way, a mother-in-law should not make life difficult for her daughter-in-law. You cannot marry your son. No matter how much time you have spent raising him, there comes a time to step aside and allow him build his home with his wife. Give respect to gain honour.

Sisters, especially female in-laws, should not fight a newly married wife because their brother now gives more attention to his own family. Your brother is starting his own life. Support him. Give respect, and you will gain honour.

Even among siblings, jealousy creates division. Sisters compete, gossip, and work against one another. This should not be so. Give love and gain honour.

In the workplace, some women in leadership positions put unnecessary pressure on other women just to prove they are strict or powerful. Some female lecturers transfer aggression to students and create stress where it is not needed. This should not be our way. Lead with integrity, and you will gain respect.

We must be deliberate about raising our girls to become the women God created them to be — women of substance, women who solve problems, women who lift others, even in difficult situations. Women who stand in the gap and make a difference.

If a young girl refuses to be a side chick…

If a woman refuses to take another woman’s husband…

If a mother-in-law chooses honour…

If a wife respects her husband’s family…

If sisters truly love and support one another…

Then we will see stronger families and stronger communities.

Women are powerful and great. But when we allow the devil to use us as instruments of jealousy, pride, and manipulation, we become enemies of one another.

May God help us to submit to Him and give us the grace to overcome every negative influence.

Let us give what we want to receive — love, honour, integrity, and respect.
