GIVING TO GROW : When Encouragement Became a Seed of Change.

Seeking
Connections

There was a time I noticed something that quietly troubled me. In my community, there are so many intelligent and capable school girls — girls with sharp minds and beautiful dreams. Yet some of them were slowly shrinking into silence. Not because they lacked ability, but because they lacked belief. No one had consistently reminded them that their dreams were valid or that their voices truly mattered.
So I started spending time with them.
Not as a lecturer. Not as an expert. Just as someone who genuinely cared.
We talked about education , not just as a way to pass exams, but as a pathway to independence, dignity, and leadership. I told them that where they come from does not determine where they can go. I reminded them that their ideas are important and that they are allowed to dream beyond what they currently see around them
At first, our conversations were simple and a little quiet. Some of the girls were shy. Some were unsure of themselves. But slowly, something began to shift. They started asking more questions. They began participating more confidently. They spoke about their futures with excitement instead of hesitation. You could see it in the way they carried themselves , a gradual but powerful change from doubt to possibility.
Through this experience, I learned something important: helping someone does not always require money. It does not require grand gestures or big donations. Sometimes, the most powerful gift you can give is belief. Sometimes, support looks like being present. It looks like listening. It looks like speaking hope into someone when the world has been too quiet or too harsh.
Encouragement is free, but its impact is priceless.
And the truth is, every one of us has the potential to help. You may not have money. You may not have resources. But you have words. You have time. You have experience. You have empathy. No one should feel excused from helping simply because they lack finances. Change does not always begin with a wallet , it often begins with a willing heart.
I did not give these girls wealth. I gave them words.
And those words became seeds.
Today I understand this deeply: when you water a girl with belief, she does not just grow , she rises. And when she rises, she lifts others with her. Families change. Communities change. Generations change.
That is the ripple effect of giving.
And that is why I will always choose to show up. Because sometimes, the difference between a silent girl and a future leader is simply someone who looks at her and says, “I believe in you.”
