Hello World Pulse family!
I’m Bridget Chauluma, a child health nurse, ICU and primary care provider, perinatal mental health advocate, child rights champion, and founder of a youth-led initiative in Malawi. I’ve walked hospital corridors, faced the intensity of ICU life, and witnessed communities struggling but I’ve also seen courage, resilience, and the transformative power of voices that refuse to stay silent.
I first joined World Pulse in 2022, when I was just a university student, eager to find a space where women’s stories inspire action. Since then, my journey has been a whirlwind of learning, advocacy, and creating safe spaces for those whose voices are often unheard.
Through Tikwaniritse Teens Empowerment Initiative, I work in rural Malawi to end child marriage, prevent gender-based violence, champion mental health, advance sexual and reproductive health and rights, and promote quality education. One of the most powerful parts of my work is hearing young people ask brave questions like, “Can a child return to school after marriage?” or “Do boys also face child marriage?” questions that remind me why change matters.
As a nurse, I’ve cared for the most vulnerable in ICUs, outbreak response centers, and maternal-child health services. These experiences showed me the importance of combining clinical care with advocacy, especially in perinatal mental health and sexual and reproductive health, where education and support can save lives and transform futures.
I live in Malawi, the Warm Heart of Africa, a place where resilience runs deep and communities lift each other even when resources are scarce. That spirit fuels my mission every day.
My question to you:
How are you using your voice big or small to create change in your community, and what lessons have you learned along the way?
I’m thrilled to be here, ready to share, connect, and amplify stories that make a real difference.
With hope and solidarity,
Bridget Chauluma 💛
