Creating my Shaman outfit journey...

I will start it once I have my house as that feels right. I had originally planned on a purple robe for the first one but once I saw the cranes I knew i had to use that coloring! Here is the actual pics I took of the cranes in my front yard. They make the weirdest sound too! I know I am very lucky though sometimes it does not feel like it in this materialistic world.

I plan to nuno felt it and love best the big boxy look so will make it like that, this first one. I plan to make a couple, depending on what I am wearing it for. This one will be "Summer" look as that is when I should have my house. I plan some basic sheaths to go under it as that is a favorite style, like you can throw it on and go. There were 2 that landed but hard to capture both in one frame :p

I plan on layering textures as I love texture. I know I want to crochet a duster vest, I want to macrame a sort of apron look and I want to do a jewelry one. For the jewelry, nothing fancy, just what appeals to me when I am ready to buy some. I have tiny seed pearls in a couple colors to go between whatever I choose. I know I want a steampunk vibe if it feels right as I make it.

I figure since I am not taught by my tribe as we are not living as a tribe, I get to make what feels right and sacred to me. Purple sprang to mind first, but I will go with Crane as spiritual connection. There is much I want to learn and create.

I always believed in praying thoughts into what I make. I made scarves for "love", "family", "fortune" and "peace" in the past. Sometimes I say but sometimes I dont. Depends on my mood. I try to think what I would pray as I worked on this. I am sure there is a chant or prayer you would recite for the tribal knowledge if passed on to me... I do not believe our knowledge is lost, it is hidden away! they actually came with a bulldozer trying to find our secrets :p I do know it needs to make me feel spiritual and connected.

I guess it depends on if i decide to do it over my heart or across my back shoulder area. I will do what feels right at that time. I began to feel like I should create my shaman outfit maybe 2 years ago but it never felt the right time and I thought about what it should be like and meditated on it as well.

those are pics I use as inspiration, I love how unisex our clothes were and how unique! I dont like they show the girl cowering in fear while the men fight as I believe it was opposite (before Russian contact) but love the look of the outfits, I think felted too, so woot, I do love felting and it is something we did as a tribe so...

I love it shows 3 styles of outfits, that I love. I love how he can take his arm out of his sleeve when needed. You never see that really! Judging by these hats, it may not even be my tribe, but same sort of cultural lifestyle so I deem it close enough ;p

This picture below I saved since it shows clothes being shared and worn in different ways. I keep that in mind when designing my outfits! (for my tv show I mean).

I think it will take maybe 6 months to get a house still... seems forever but I also believe things happen as they are meant to (or very close at least as we do have free will)... But I am in Homer, Alaska finally! So first step is taken on my journey! Next we do saving down on a house! We thought we lucked out at where my daughter works someone had posted "for sale by owner" and we thought maybe she would owner finance but she is retiring and wants no hassles. but maybe next time we will find someone willing!

lol, I tried to do a kickstarter but that fizzled, I can understand why, I had no pics of my stuff and would need to get the tools as mine as in storage. So it was not an urgent need but just a want. I have so many plans once I get all my stuff unpacked! I may try it again or maybe try to raise funds to create a pilot episode of Starfleet Alyeska! that would be cool too!
