Biography – Melaku Tafese Awulachew

Melaku Tafese Awulachew is an Ethiopian researcher specializing in Food Science, Food Processing Technology, and Chemical/Food Engineering. He currently serves as a Researcher II at the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research in Addis Ababa, where he contributes to innovations in food processing, food system transformation, and agricultural value addition.

He holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (Process Engineering) from Adama Science and Technology University and an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (Food Engineering) from Addis Ababa University, along with a Master of Engineering degree. His research interests include food processing technologies, nutrition, biotechnology, and sustainable food systems, particularly in addressing food security challenges in Ethiopia and other developing regions.

Melaku Tafese Awulachew is an active scholar and author, having published more than seventy peer-reviewed articles and authored several books and book chapters. His academic profile reflects significant research impact, with hundreds of citations and an established h-index. He is also actively involved in international scientific communities, peer review activities, and research collaborations.

Beyond research, he is committed to knowledge dissemination, academic mentoring, and strengthening higher education and innovation systems, particularly in Africa’s food and agricultural sectors.
