Dear Mum,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am just beginning to understand how much you went through to bring me into this world.
I have lived my life walking under the shade of your love, yet only now do I truly begin to understand the depth of what you endured just to bring me into this world.
You carried me for nine long months not as a burden, but as a blessing you protected with your entire being. Because of me, your body changed, your comfort disappeared, and your freedom became a memory. You gave up the foods you craved because they made me uneasy. You endured nausea, dizziness, swollen feet, and sleepless nights, all while forcing a smile so I would grow safely inside you. You stopped wearing the beautiful clothes you loved, not because you didn’t want them, but because your body was no longer your own it was my home.
You endured emotions no one could fully understand. Some days, you hated the world for no reason, cried without explanation, and felt lonely even when surrounded by people. Yet you kept going. You kept choosing me.
Then came the day of my arrival the day your pain turned into my first breath. In that labour room, you fought a battle no one applauds enough. Your body tore, your strength faded, and still you pushed through unbearable pain just to hear my first cry. While I slept peacefully for the first time, you lay exhausted, bleeding, trembling but smiling. Smiling because I was finally here.
And when the world slept, you stayed awake.
You changed my diapers without complaint, even when your body was still healing. You rocked me in the silence of midnight, carrying me in tired arms while your eyes begged for rest. You learned my cries before I learned words. You soothed my pain before I even understood what pain was. You fed me with love, cleaned me with gentleness, and wrapped me in warmth when the world was cold.
You didn’t just raise me you shaped me.
You taught me right from wrong, even when I tested your patience. You prayed over me when I could not pray for myself. You corrected me when I stumbled and celebrated me when I succeeded. You stood between me and the world, absorbing every storm so I could stand tall.
You sacrificed your dreams so I could find mine.
You silenced your pain so I could smile freely.
You chose service over self, love over comfort, strength over rest all because of me.
You fought for me in rooms I never entered.
You defended me in battles I never saw.
You believed in me even when I doubted myself.
And today, as I look at who I have become, I see your fingerprints in every step I take. My strength carries your endurance. My kindness reflects your heart. My resilience echoes your silent sacrifices.
Thank you, Mother for the womb that sheltered me, the arms that raised me, the heart that never gave up on me.
Thank you for every sleepless night, every tear, every prayer, every silent struggle. Thank you for fighting for me to become the person I am today.
I am because you loved.
I am because you endured.
I am because you chose me again and again.
May my life forever be a thank you note written in your honour.
And may I spend my days making you proud, the way you spent your life making me whole.
To all women:
You endure the pain of pregnancy, the uncertainty of labor, the sleepless nights, the relentless care of children, and the sacrifice of your own dreams. You smile in public while your heart aches in private. You hold your families together, defend your homes, and fight for love — even when it is painful, even when it is exhausting, even when no one notices.
You are the quiet warriors of this world. The unsung heroines who give without asking, who nurture without pause, who love without limits. You are strength hidden in tenderness, courage wrapped in sacrifice, and beauty forged in endurance.
To every woman who has given her all without recognition we see you. We honor you. We thank you.
