Supporting and Empowering the Boy Child: A Step Towards Safer, Healthier Communities
Across Africa and the world, we often focus on women’s empowerment and rightly so but the boy child is too often overlooked. Neglecting his emotional, mental, and social development has long-term consequences for families, communities, and societies.
When we support and empower boys, we are not just shaping individuals we are reducing the cycle of violence, abuse, and mental health struggles for everyone around them.
A well-supported boy:
Learns to manage emotions healthily
Develops respect for women and peers
Becomes a man who contributes positively to his family and community
Breaks the cycle of gender-based violence
Protects his own mental wellness and that of his loved ones
By teaching boys emotional intelligence, healthy coping skills, and positive role models, we reduce the risk of domestic violence, substance abuse, depression, and other mental health crises that affect men, women, and children.
Empowering the boy child is a community responsibility. Schools, families, and mentors must provide guidance, mentorship, and safe spaces for boys to grow into responsible, compassionate men.
When a boy grows into a healthy, sober, emotionally-aware man, he becomes a source of peace, love, and protection, transforming households and communities for the better.
Let us work together to raise boys who respect, nurture, and uplift, so our communities can thrive without the shadows of violence or untreated mental health struggles.
Together, we can change the future one boy at a time
I know am the same person who came hear earlier and talked about how I left the father of my children. But I left for myself not him, reason I say so is we have been so empowered as women ,and the boy child has been forgotten,we know so much of our rights turns of organisations supporting and empowering girlchild. So my question is WHO IS GONNA MARRY THE EMPOWERED GIRL CHILD,How will marriages and raising children's work .as we come together and empower ladies lets not forget the men in our society.
