When a Dream Becomes a Responsibility

🌍 When a Dream Becomes a Responsibility: My Journey with Sombhabona

To me, my dream has never been “just a dream.”

It is my responsibility, my calling, and the path I continue to walk—no matter how steep the road becomes.

In 2026, Sombhabona will complete 15 years.

When people ask me which year has been the hardest in this long journey, I say one word: 2025.

Starting a social initiative is difficult—

but sustaining it, especially as a voluntary movement, is where the real battle begins.

And for a woman, that battle is often twice as heavy, twice as lonely.

Yet here we are—standing strong, preparing for the most awaited chapter.

From January 2026, a new beginning is unfolding for Sombhabona.

Perhaps this is true: after the hardest seasons, the Creator sends the most beautiful gifts.

The Year My Body Slowed Down, but My Dream Didn’t

Throughout all of 2025, I worked from home due to medical issues.

Every morning, before any work discussion, my team would ask only one thing:

“Apu, are you feeling better today?”

And on the days when I couldn’t keep my commitments because my body simply refused to cooperate, the work still continued—because I had already formed a system, a roadmap.

Whenever frustration consumed me, I would think of Stephen Hawking.

He taught me that survival is not just about resources;

it is about discovering a deeper meaning of life.

The Year I Understood Who Truly Belongs

This year taught me a lesson I will carry forever—

Some people are related by blood,

yet they are not truly close.

And some people come from miles away,

yet become family to the soul.

There are people who want you to live one more day because they genuinely love you.

And there are people who wonder what happens “if you are no longer here.”

Both thoughts sound similar but are worlds apart.

One is love.

The other is calculation.

Many have said to me in frustration,

“You don’t need any relatives.”

Maybe they are right.

During all the complications I faced,

I never needed to call anyone from my own bloodline.

Those who stayed by my side—

were not relatives…

They were soul family.

Gratitude, Growth, and a New Resolution

To everyone who stood by me—thank you.

This past year trained me on how to work from a distance.

The coming year will teach me how to rise again…

slowly, quietly, but with depth and intention.

I no longer believe in the “trendy success” the world glorifies.

My focus is on internal progress—

on being stronger, wiser, steadier.

This is my year-end reflection.

My new-year resolution.

My reminder to myself:

A dream guided by purpose can survive any storm.
